CCS MULTI-STORY PARKING STRUCTURE
Frameworks For Interaction & Conversation
PROBLEM
Driving is fun, but looking for parking space, parking the car, and remember the parking space has always been a stressful process.
The same parking problem CCS students and staff face it every day whenever they visit ccs. Finding a parking space in CCS multi-story parking structure increases the driver’s bio-cost by going through many conversations with own mind while also area scanning.

SOLUTION
A driver is informed about parking space at the gate only while using his/her access card to enter.
A monitor placed at the entrance and it informs driver where and what floor he/she is supposed to park on.
Send the text message of parking information to the driver, so he/she can always refer back to the message while looking for a car in parking lot.
METHODOLOGY
The project was the result of 5 weeks of model creation and refinement. The brief was to choose a pre-existing system, to critique it by describing its strengths and weaknesses, and to design how the system could be improved in terms of the cybernetic models studied in the course. The overall goal of the course was to build a foundation of “systems literacy’”, that is, to learn how to “read” and “write” complex systems in order to lead to better designs.

PARKING MONITOR CONCEPT SCREEN

The proposed conversation diagram leads to a concept system where a driver is informed about parking space at the gate only while using his/her access card to enter. A monitor placed at the entrance and it informs driver where and what floor he/she is supposed to park on. Also, the proposed system sends information about the current parking space of the car, so the driver can always refer it while looking for the car in parking space.

CONCLUSION
-
When the driver knows the destination from the beginning, it helps them to calculate the time and prepares them mentally for the journey.
-
Also by including an active sensor and monitoring system into the garage, it can make the parking structure more organized.
-
Test Result: Drivers (5 Drivers) were able to save average 9 seconds with mental peace.
